Building Something Premium — One Person, One Vision
Share
There’s a certain kind of madness that comes with deciding to build a premium product from scratch, on your own, with no team behind you. But there’s also something incredibly freeing about it.
Thera Studios is a one-person operation. Every decision — from the materials used in the frame, to the art that sits behind the glass, to the way the packaging feels when it lands on your doorstep — comes from me. That’s not me boasting. If anything, it’s me being upfront about what Thera Studios is and what it stands for.
Why go it alone?
Honestly? At first, I didn’t have much choice! Building a business from the ground up means bootstrapping pretty much everything — including the workforce, which for now is just me, myself, and an ice cold Monster.
But joking aside, there’s something genuinely powerful about starting that way. When you’re a team of one, there are no compromises. No one is pushing to cut costs on materials to hit a margin target. No one is suggesting we add a subscription model because “that’s what everyone else does.” Every choice is made with one question in mind: is this good enough for the customer?
That might sound simple, but it’s actually quite rare.
And look — the dream is much bigger than one person working from home. The vision for Thera Studios has always been to grow into something truly special. A recognised brand. A worldwide business. A team of people who share the same passion for quality and creativity. That’s where this is heading.
But every great company started somewhere. And right now, this is where it starts.
What does “premium” actually mean?
It’s a word that gets thrown around a lot, so I want to be specific about what it means at Thera Studios.
It means using the right materials, not the cheapest ones. It means a display that does justice to the art it shows — proper colour accuracy, proper brightness, a matte finish that doesn’t turn your wall into a mirror. It means a product that works the moment you plug it in, with no app to download, no WiFi to connect, no account to create.
Premium, to me, means respect for the customer’s time and intelligence.
The decisions that define Thera Frame
Some of the most important decisions I’ve made about Thera Frame are the things I decided not to do.
No WiFi dependency. No cloud storage. No subscription fees. No compromising on screen quality to hit a lower price point.
These weren’t easy calls — simpler, cheaper alternatives exist at every turn. But every time I was tempted to cut a corner, I came back to the same thought: would I be happy to give this to someone I care about? If the answer was no, the corner didn’t get cut.
Building in public, building with purpose
Thera Studios is still growing. The first Thera Frame is still in development, and there’s a lot of road ahead. But I think there’s value in being honest about that — in showing the process, not just the finished product.
Because when you eventually hold a Thera Frame in your hands, I want you to know the thought that went into it. The late nights, the research, the obsessing over details that most people would never notice. That’s not just a product. That’s a standard.
And that standard isn’t going anywhere.
The Journey is Just Beginning
Thera Frame isn’t just a product — it’s the start of something. A brand built on doing things properly, a commitment to quality that doesn’t waver, and a vision that stretches far beyond where we are today.
